What is Chemistry

What is Chemistry

Chemistry is defined as "The branch of science that deals with the study of composition, structure, properties and change of matter".

In Chemistry, we can study the properties of the atom and how atom form a chemical bond. Sometimes, Chemistry is called central science because Chemistry bridges other natural science such as Geology, Biology, and Physics. Chemistry is the systematic study and study of the reactivity of substance.

According to the Robert Boyle, " Chemistry is the material principle of mixed bodies ".

Many years ago, the early civilization such as Indians, Babylonians try to get the parts of dyes and metallurgy. But they failed to develop the systematic theory about dyes and metallurgy.

Chemical Hypothesis firstly introduced in Classical Greece and they developed the theory of 4 elements described the fundamental elements of Earth ( water, fire, air and soul ).

In 50 BC, Roman scientist developed the theory of nature of different things in the world. Greek scientist was true and purely philosophical in nature unlike modern science of nature and they have not concerned on chemical experiment but have little concern on empirical observation of nature.

The Arab World practiced and discovered the Alchemy. Sir Francis Bacon propounded the new empirical methods. At Oxford, the group of chemists (  Robert Boyle, John Mayow, and Robert Hooke ) started to reshape the old traditions of alchemical into the scientific discipline. But the Boyle named as Father of Chemistry for his most important work. By rejecting the classical " Four Elements ", he introduced the "Boyle's law" and proposed chemical reaction and the mechanistic alternative of atoms.

John Dalton, the English Chemist introduced the Theory of Atoms, in which all substance and different kind of atoms have varying atomic weight.

In the early of 19th century, J.J. Berzelius and Humphry Davy developed the electrochemical theory of chemical combination. It made it possible for Alessandro Volta to invent the Voltaic Pile. Extracting them from their oxides with electric current, Davy introduced the nine new elements including Alkali Metals.
In Chemistry, we can study Inorganic and organic substance. The organic substance is Carbon combined with Hydrogen. Carbon can link with atoms with many different ways and also itself.
Quantum Mechanical Model is the modern model of atomic structure.

Chemistry starts with the study of molecules, substance, elementary particles and atoms. We can be studied matter in liquid, gas or liquid states in advance and modern Chemistry.

Chemical substances are divided in term of their Chemical Composition, Structure as well as Phase. These Chemical substances can be analyzed using a different tool of chemical analysis ( Chromatography and Spectroscopy ). Scientist busy to in chemical research called Chemist. Many concepts such as Atom, Matter, compound, substance and mixture and mole and amount of substance are essential for the study of chemistry. Chemistry is the study of the connection between the molecular world and  the everyday world. Many Chemists use molecules and atoms to check and explain the properties of Matter.

Now we hope that you completely understand What is Chemistry. Moreover, if you have any kind of confusion about this article then you can ask us using comment session. We will answer it as soon as we can.
